Mindful Cooking

On cooking—sometimes we’re super excited to indulge & experiment new recipes. Sometimes it feels more like a chore. Recently we’ve noticed that, not matter whether or not we’re enjoying the process, our mind is elsewhere—we’re distracted by thoughts, feelings, and inner-dialogue.
“It’s easy to get distracted in the kitchen as your mind wanders to plans for the future or memories of the past, but with the use of mindfulness techniques, you can become more present in the kitchen. When you do, you may well enjoy the process of cooking more than you could have ever imagined.”
On mindfulness—we’ve come to learn that mindfulness is essentially natural state of being. That being said, we are constantly surrounded by distractions so that means we have to *train* our minds to be present again. Among our many daily rituals, cooking is just one opportunity for us to do this.
To start us off, @headspace has come up with 3 tips for mindfulness cooking:
1. Remove your smartphone from the kitchen
2. Be aware of the food with all your senses
3. Be mindful of the ingredients you cook with
